"We Malaysians believe that Travel is a medicinal way to keep yourself young." -Assia Na

{Perhentian Islands, Malaysia}

These were words my beautiful guide for the day, Assia (a mother of five and grandmother to three) shared with my friend and I as we were driving to Mount Kinabalu in Borneo a few days ago. Although she has never traveled out of her country, she has traveled within Malaysia. She was schooled through the age of 11, but not beyond due to her parents' financial situation, yet her English was flawless. Her wisdom and love for the land, the food, and the culture is chilling and humbling. Passion, Love and Grace radiated from her.

And I couldn't agree with her more. Travel is Medicinal. I have known for years that Travel is part of my Healing Journey.

We cannot help but heal when we travel. Each connection we make with another person is an opportunity for healing. We all have the potential to heal each other with every exchange, whether or not we are traveling. Silently. Energetically. Without even knowing. That is the Power of Energy. The Power of Connection. The Power of Travel.

However, I know that travel isn't possible for everyone, and may not even be a desire for everyone. But what is a desire for everyone is Healing. Love. Growth. And Transformation. We are all in need of Healing. Whether it is Physical, Emotional, Mental, or Spiritual.

So for today, I want you to ask yourself: "What is Medicinal for you?" What do you need to heal, to transform, to rise up, to love, to radiate? And whatever that first answer is, I want you to go do that. Follow that.

And, if you're curious about this concept of healing, I recently read this excerpt by one of my most favorite people to follow, Elizabeth Harper. Remember, we ALL are healers.

"I feel that as healers we go where we are most needed. Much of this of course is about our own karma, but I also feel we have a contract with the land, with Earth, and we have agreed to "be there" when she most needs us. This can mean extensive and constant uprooting which can result in a sense of insecurity. I moved from place to place between the ages of 19 and 49. Sometimes I would move to a new place to live every couple of weeks. Every building I lived in, every space I slept in, every area I called home no matter how short a time I was there benefitted in some way from the light I carried with me in my aura. This isn't just me, it's you too. You are a healer, if you have love in your heart then you are a healer. Everywhere you go you take love and light with you, and like me you are bringing this not just to the people around you, but also to the land. The Earth needs you, that is part of your mission. You agreed to be there when it happens, just like me, and it's happening right now."
